The Magnavox Odyssey was a sptactual video game console while it was out between 1972 to 1974. It was not great because of anything special it had either. It had the most awful graphics you could imagine. The controllers were bulky and games where pointless. The reason its branded an amazing machine is because it was officially the first video game system to be invented. The man who created the first game system in the world was no one other than Ralph Baer.

Gameplay of the system was primitive. the games used special plastic overlays that were placed on the TV screen to simulate the background graphics because the game console couldn't draw them. It can with several accessories such as cards, dice, fake money, etc.

Although it was in a new technology which was in demand, it flopped shortly thanks to a dirty business manipulation by Magnavox. After a few months of release comsumers were brought to believe that the game system could only run on a Magnavox Television set, which was not true.
